When I first started really getting into reading in 2012, I was very into reading all of the newly released books. Unfortunately, at least 50% of them were the first book in a series. I didn’t do much reading in 2013 and 2014 and as a result, all of the continuation books that were released during that time were never picked up. Alas, boatloads of unfinished series.
I recently counted all of the unfinished series on my Goodreads and I had over 25! That number was a bit overwhelming, considering most of those series had more than one book to be read. But I like to finish what I started, so here we are.
AUGUST WRAP UP
In the month of August, I managed to finish 4 series by reading the following:
Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (complete!)
Chronicles of Narnia series (complete!)
Fire & Flood series (complete!)
The Giver Quartet series (complete!)
I also read the following stand-alones:
In the month of September, I will be participating in a couple of readathons happening in the BookTube community. The first that I will be participating in (though it isn’t a formal “readathon”) is Seriesathon hosted by Shannon at leaninglights. The second is Slay That Series (also here) hosted by Sara from sarahwithoutanH and Chami at ReadLikeWildFire. The focus of both is to finish unfinished series, so hurrah! I will not be alone in my mission!
My plan for this month:
Slated series (complete as of 9/6!)
Dark Elements series (finished Stone Cold Touch as of 9/6)
Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series
Shades of London series
The Hybrid Chronicles series
The Program series
The Harry Potter series (re-reading… of course I’ve read them before!)
Many Booktubers have a goal of #0by16, meaning 0 books in their TBR pile by 2016. I will never adopt that philosophy, but I would love to have 0 unfinished (completely published) series by 2016. If we’re still waiting for a book, that’s okay, but I would like to complete those series that have been published in their entirety.
That is my over-ambitious TBR for the month. What are you planning on reading? Have you read any of these series? What did you think?
