November/#nonficnov Wrap Up

November was a decent reading month! Unfortunately, not all of what I read was nonfiction (as was my plan). But reading only non-fiction was putting me into a slump, so I figured some reading (albeit the “wrong” type of reading) is better than no reading at all.

As you can see, I read 4 non-fiction books, 4 novels, and 7 graphic novels. Up until this month, I wasn’t a huge fan of graphic novels. Then I read Saga. If you have not read Saga yet and/or you feel like you’re not a huge graphic novel fan, check it out ASAP. I cannot recommend it enough. Graphic novels are still very hit or miss for me, but I have hope now that I loved some!

I’d say my favorite read of November was Feed by Mira Grant. It was just so different from what I was expecting and it surprised me in the best way. More about that in my upcoming review!

October Wrap Up

Of my October TBR, I read:

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (☆☆☆☆☆)

I freestyled by reading these:

Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld, Margo Lanagan, Deborah Biancotti (☆☆☆☆1/2)

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (☆☆)

The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel (☆☆☆☆)

Vicious by V.E. Schwab (☆☆☆☆1/2)

Blue is the Warmest Color by Julie Maroh, Ivanka Hahnenberger (Translator) (☆☆☆1/2)

I started but didn’t finish these:

Feed by Mira Grant

The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (Illustrated) by J.K. Rowling (Illustration by Jim Kay)

Despite the fact that I did finish some books, it hasn’t been a very reading-centered month for me. I just wasn’t feeling it. I also decided that the series that I have unfinished (with the exception of the Rot & Ruin series which I will be continuing soon) just aren’t worth my time. I have so many books on my shelves that I want to read more than the series that I started years ago. So, it’s time to move on.

That being said, I feel good about the upcoming month. I’m excited to read some different books. Check my #nonficnov TBR.

September Wrap Up

Of my September TBR, I read these:

Shattered (☆☆☆1/2) – Slated series complete!

17455815     17455817

Stone Cold Touch (☆☆☆) and Every Last Breath (☆1/2) – Dark Elements series complete!

9460487     23164983

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (☆☆☆) and Hollow City (☆☆1/2)

The Shadow Cabinet (☆☆☆☆) – Shades of London series caught up!

2     1     136251

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (☆☆☆☆☆), Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (☆☆☆☆☆), and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (☆☆☆☆☆) – The Harry Potter series complete… again!

I freestyled by reading these:

Ender’s Shadow (☆☆☆☆)

Bounce (☆☆☆1/2) – Boomerang series complete!

Another Day (☆☆☆1/2) – Every Day series duology complete!

P.S. I Still Love You (☆☆☆1/2) – To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before duology complete!

13 books read – all 13 were from series – 7 series completed

As I continue finishing series, the ratings for the final books just aren’t very high. I’m not sure if it’s because of the time elapsed since reading the first books, that the series genuinely lose steam, that I just don’t care about the characters anymore, etc. Regardless of the reason, I’m excited to start fresh once I have all of these series completed.

August Wrap Up & September TBR – Unfinished Series

When I first started really getting into reading in 2012, I was very into reading all of the newly released books. Unfortunately, at least 50% of them were the first book in a series. I didn’t do much reading in 2013 and 2014 and as a result, all of the continuation books that were released during that time were never picked up. Alas, boatloads of unfinished series.

I recently counted all of the unfinished series on my Goodreads and I had over 25! That number was a bit overwhelming, considering most of those series had more than one book to be read. But I like to finish what I started, so here we are.

In the month of August, I managed to finish 4 series by reading the following:

561456     (4 stars)

2120932     (4 stars)

4502507     (4 stars)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians series (complete!)

121749     (4 stars)

140225     (4 stars)

65641     (4 stars)

84369     (3 stars)

Chronicles of Narnia series (complete!)

23555803     (4 stars)

20657437     (3 stars)

Fire & Flood series (complete!)

13324841     (4 stars)

The Giver Quartet series (complete!)

I also read the following stand-alones:

18367581     (4 stars)

71728     (4 stars)

20958632   (2.5 stars)

11506091     (5 stars)

In the month of September, I will be participating in a couple of readathons happening in the BookTube community. The first that I will be participating in (though it isn’t a formal “readathon”) is Seriesathon hosted by Shannon at leaninglights. The second is Slay That Series (also here) hosted by Sara from sarahwithoutanH and Chami at ReadLikeWildFire. The focus of both is to finish unfinished series, so hurrah! I will not be alone in my mission!

My plan for this month:

Slated series (complete as of 9/6!)

17455815     17455817

Dark Elements series (finished Stone Cold Touch as of 9/6)

9460487     23164983     24120519

Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series

Breathe series

Shades of London series

16109664     17352960

The Hybrid Chronicles series

17948607     22449285

The Program series

2     1     136251

The Harry Potter series (re-reading… of course I’ve read them before!)

Many Booktubers have a goal of #0by16, meaning 0 books in their TBR pile by 2016. I will never adopt that philosophy, but I would love to have 0 unfinished (completely published) series by 2016. If we’re still waiting for a book, that’s okay, but I would like to complete those series that have been published in their entirety.

That is my over-ambitious TBR for the month. What are you planning on reading? Have you read any of these series? What did you think?

Happy reading!
